Director

Thomas began his career as a cinematographer in his home country of Austria. He went on to work across Europe on commercials and in television. He moved to the U.S. in 1989 and became a top commercial and music video DP, working on iconic music videos with Michael Jackson, Madonna; Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga. as well as a successful career as director, shooting spots for Skechers, Disney, Disney Cruise Ships, Target Bialetti and numerous music videos.

He added feauture films to his resume working with directors Peter Medak (”Pontiac Moon”), James Foley (“Fear”), Volker Schlondorff (“Palmeto”) and Tom Dey (ShowTime”). Thomas went back to the advertising and music video world for several years until an opportunity to work with frequent collaborator Marcus Nispel returned him to features with ¨Conan the Barbarian”. His desire to shoot more narrative work led to his working with Joseph Gordon-Levitt on his directorial debut, “Don Jon”, starring Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore. He followed this up working with director Alex Graves (“Homeland”, “Game of Thrones”) on three TV pilots, including “taken” currently airing on NBC.
